London Global Cancer Week 2024
Join us at London Global Cancer Week 2024 on November 13 for a session jointly hosted by Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration and the Hyderabad Centre for Palliative Care:
Achieving population-based palliative care: Learnings from Telangana, India
This presentation will address how Telangana moved from an absence of palliative care in the early 2000’s to a current, internationally recognized palliative care program serving 38 million people in 33 administrative districts.
The steps involved in creating this capacity and the key factors underlying successful implementation, will be presented, along with a roadmap for implementation that can be replicated elsewhere. We will describe how a collaboration between a state government and Indian and Canadian NGOs resulted in palliative care now being accessible to all, including in the poorest and the remotest areas of the state.
Host: Dr Gillian Fyles – Director, Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration
Panelists: Dr Gayatri Palat – Director, Hyderabad Centre for Palliative Care; Professor of Palliative Medicine, Mehdi Nawaz Jung Institute; and Don Rix Professor of Palliative Medicine.
